VASCULAR DEMENTIA TEAM
The global and domestic population of dementia patients is increasing annually, with vascular dementia ranking second only to Alzheimer’s disease in terms of etiology. Dementia can be triggered by strokes, and cerebrovascular diseases can lead to cognitive decline even without stroke. Research in this field has been relatively limited in the past, with many unanswered questions and a lack of treatment options.
Our center’s vascular dementia team focuses on various research directions, including the disease progression and risk factors for cognitive impairment after stroke, changes in neurovascular regulation after stroke and their impact on cognitive function, the role of remote biosignal monitoring in post-stroke cognitive changes at home, and blood biomarkers for cognitive impairment after stroke. In the future, we will incorporate imaging analysis to better understand the bidirectional influence of cerebral blood flow and brain function, thus elucidating the pathophysiological mechanisms of cerebral blood flow disorders in neurodegenerative diseases.
Our team consists of clinical physicians, epidemiology experts, bioinformatics specialists, and basic neuroscience researchers. We meet monthly, establish a cloud database, and aggregate data from various research sub-teams in the hope of finding a solution to vascular dementia.
